ICCF World Cup 24

ICCF World Cup 24 (webserver)

The International Correspondence Chess Federation ICCF in association with

the Bulgarian Correspondence Chess Association (Bulgarian CCA)

Announcement :

Tournament Organization

The tournament will be played in 3 stages.

Matjaz Pirs (BUL) will be the Central Tournament Leader, and the Bulgarian CCA will provide Tournament Directors for all stages of the tournament.

The Preliminary and Semifinal round will be played by webserver with the ICCF Triple Block system for a 700 day event, with player's clock 50 days - 50 days initial bank and 5 days increment for the first 50 moves is used.

The Final round will be played by webserver with the pace 50 days 10 move.

If a player's clock reaches zero, the player will automatically be scored with a loss (even if the bank and/or the increment are > 0). Under some circumstances all of the player’s games will subsequently be cancelled (if not already rated).
Players cannot stop their clocks to take leave; no special leave. Linear conditionals can be entered. Each player plays one game with every player of his group simultaneously. The public can see the games live after 10 games are finished in the event; live transmission is delayed by 5 moves.

The event will be rated with title norms, which are usually possible at the Semifinal and Final stages.

Allocation of players to the Preliminary sections will be made as random as possible; however geographical distribution as well as an achievement of reasonable equality of the average rating will be taken into account.

The Preliminary stage will start on 25th November 2024.

Each group will consist of 7-11 players

Entries

All players are eligible to enter.

Players may register in the usual way through ICCF registration system (select “Register by Direct Entry” or “Register via National Federation”). Tournament fee for Direct Entry: 9 Euros.

Multiple entries are allowed up to the number of preliminary sections. However, one player only can qualify twice to the Semifinal stage.

Registration will begin immediately and will close on 10th November 2024.

Rating list  2024/4 will be applied.

All Preliminary groups will finish on 25th Oktober 2026.

The Semifinal round will be started on 25th November 2026. Each group will consist of 9-15 players. All Semifinal groups will finish on 25th Oktober 2028

The Final round will be started on 25th November 2028 With 13-17 players

All groups of the Preliminary and Semifinal stages start on the same day.

Each group winner will be promoted to the next round together with the best runners-up of the groups (as decided by the tournament organiser).

For multi-round and promotion tournaments (including the WCCC series of events), a positive score is required for a first-place finish to be awarded. If no player in these types of tournaments (for any specific place, whether first, second, etc.) achieves a positive score, then no player is awarded qualification (for that place) to the next round or to the next higher class (1.3.1.).

Tie breaking procedures (1.3.4.):

  • a.  number of wins by each tied player in the tournament (the Baumbach tie-breaking system)
  • b.  if after “a” the tie persist, then the points evaluation by the Sonneborn-Berger-System,
  • c.  if after “b” the tie persists, then the results of the tied players against each other.

Prizes

The group winners of the Preliminary stage and of the Semifinal stage win a prize, paid as ICCF Vouchers or suitable prizes provided by our sponsors.

Cash prizes are only available to those with a acceptable route of payment, otherwise payment will be made in ICCF vouchers.

Tie-breaks will not be applied in respect of these cash prizes and instead those players scoring equal points will equally share any prize money due.
