The Bulgarian CCA is pleased to announce the Spas Spasov Memorial International OPEN (BUL).
Tournament description
The tournament will be played on the ICCF server using the Silli or round-robin system (12 games per player).
The ICCF standard time control of 10 moves in 50 days, with duplication after 20 days, will be used.
Each player will have 45 days of leave per year. There will be no special leave in this event.
Linear conditionals may be entered.
Claims based on the seven-piece tablebase are allowed.
The event will be ICCF rated and, where the relevant criteria are met, ICCF title norms may be achieved.
Completed games will become visible to other participants once 10 games in the event have been completed. They will become visible to the public under the same conditions.
If required, adjudicators will be selected by the server.
The tournament will start on 30 November 2026. There is no fixed end date.
Entry and rating sections
The event is open to players rated 0–2750 Elo.
Entries will be sorted according to the players' ICCF ratings on the 2026/4 rating list, valid from 1 October 2026.

Players may enter up to three sections within their rating category.
- Sections 01, 02 and 03: 2450–2750 Elo
- Sections 04, 05 and 06: 2400–2449 Elo
- Sections 07, 08 and 09: 2300–2399 Elo
- Sections 10, 11 and 12: 2150–2299 Elo
- Sections 13, 14 and 15: 1900–2149 Elo
- Sections 16, 17 and 18: 0–1899 Elo
Tie-breaks
If a tie remains after the standard tie-breaking procedures, as defined in ICCF Rule 1.3.4.2.2(a)–(e), the order will be determined by the higher rating, fixed or unfixed, in earlier rating lists before the end of the section concerned, proceeding backwards until the tie is broken.
Registration
All entries must be made through the Direct Entry system on the ICCF server by selecting Bulgaria in the New Events menu. Entries cannot be submitted by email.
The entry fee through the Direct Entry system is EUR 15.00 per entry. For entries submitted through National Federations, the entry fee is the responsibility of the relevant National Federation.
The closing date for National Federation entries is 19 November 2026.

Certificates
Electronic certificates will be awarded to the top 10 players in Silli sections and the top 3 players in round-robin sections.
